On July 1, 2009 St. Ann Byzantine Catholic parish will welcome Fr. Leonard A. Martin, S.J. as our new pastor. Appointed by Bishop William C. Skurla, Fr. Martin will be the fourth pastor in the history of St. Ann parish succeeding Fr. John Zeyack who entered retirement this year. Fr. Martin commented on being named pastor, “I was simply delighted to be named Pastor of St. Ann’s. I have visited here often and always found it to be an active, warm and lovingly Christian community. I look forward to meeting all of the parishioners and getting to know them and being able to minister to them for many years to come.”

Fr. Martin was born in Philadelphia. He received his BA and MA from St. Louis University and advanced degrees from Woodstock College in New York. He has extensive teaching and education experience having been a teacher of theology, religious studies and classical languages in high schools. He was Headmaster at Gonzaga College H.S. in Washington, D.C., the Acting Chair for Education & Health Services and a teacher at St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia; Assistant to the President of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association, as well as Chaplain, Pastor and Campus Minister at Marywood College in Scranton.
